Organic Camu Camu Powder

Camu camu (Myrciaria dubia) grows in one very specific place: the flooded forests of the Peruvian Amazon, where low shrubs are planted along the banks of rivers and lagoons that rise several metres during the flood season. When the water covers the roots, the fruit — a small, tart, purple-skinned berry — ripens half-submerged, and local communities traditionally harvest it by canoe, picking the floating fruit by hand. For centuries it was an almost anonymous fruit outside the rainforest, too sour to eat as-is and too perishable to travel far unprocessed. Today, that same fruit is picked at its peak, dried at low temperature close to where it's harvested to preserve its properties, and milled into the concentrated powder that reaches your kitchen — how a river fruit from the Amazon ends up in your breakfast bowl without losing anything along the way.
